Caring for Your Toys When They Arrive

Collectible figures and limited pieces often spend days moving between sorting centres, trucks and doorsteps, so a few minutes of care when your parcel lands can make a real difference. These habits help keep both the toy and its packaging in the best possible shape.

Opening the parcel

• Check the outer box first. Before cutting tape, look for crushed corners, punctures or water marks. If you see damage, take a quick photo while the box is still sealed.
• Use a short blade or open by hand. Deep cuts with a long knife can scratch window boxes or nick a figure's paint. Slice only the tape, not the cardboard beneath it.
• Let it acclimatise. In cold Portland winters a parcel may sit on a chilly porch. Vinyl and resin can be stiffer when cold, so let the box reach room temperature before handling jointed or delicate parts.

Keeping collector packaging pristine

Many collectors display figures in their original boxes or keep them sealed for the long term. If that's you, store boxes upright, away from direct sunlight, which fades printed artwork over time, and away from damp spots like basements or exterior walls. Acid-free protective sleeves or clear box protectors are a good option for limited releases from our collections.

Reusing and recycling materials

The cardboard and paper fill in most parcels can go into household recycling once tape and labels are removed. Check your local guidelines for any soft plastic film, as rules vary between cities. Sturdy boxes are also worth keeping for storage or for safely moving your collection later.
